HOLIDAY WRAP-UP

Posted by: Genene Valleau

Project: Nine-book series; planning promo for February release

Status: Going well!

Well, December 25 is past, and Christmas is supposed to be over. However, I still have presents to wrap and deliver.

I also have excuses, including: I took on more work than I usually do during the holidays. I was waiting for checks that still haven't arrived. I couldn't believe it was time for Christmas again--didn't we just celebrate that holiday?

However, the fact remains that I simply did not get my holiday act together this year.

I wasn't in a "bah, humbug" mood. My focus was just elsewhere--like finishing up rough outlines for a series of nine books that I'm working on, and launching promotion for a February anthology that includes a romantic comedy novella I wrote.

I don't even plan to set goals for the new year like I do many times in the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Perhaps because I'm finishing up projects and already have a direction set for the first part of 2010.

How about the rest of you? Did you celebrate the holidays with enthusiasm? Are you in the throes of goal setting? Or are you on a more mellow track like I am?

I am on a more mellow track like you are. I got everything done when it needed to be done and am now taking a few days for fun.

I also have a clear direction for the beginning of 2010 and thru to summer.

Happy New Year to All!

Hi, Therese!

A few days for fun sounds like a great idea! After I get just a few more projects done...

Actually, my New Years goal is to commit to less! It's time to ditch the martyr complex and the "say yes to anything that will make other people happy" virus.

Kate, good for you!

It took me a long time to learn it was OK to say no without guilt. I still overbook myself sometimes, but at least I know the trade-offs.

Now I just need to work on those unexpected things that come up that catch my eye and tempt me to throw my perfectly balanced schedule to the wind!
