Mood: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...
1. Reality shows - why can I get more addicted to them than any regular TV show? Once I get suckered into watching one, I can't stop. What is wrong with me?
2. Weather warnings - nothing can throw me into a panic faster than a snow threat. Forget being professional at work. Forget that today isn't grocery shopping day. I'm terrified! Yesterday I spent my afternoon at American Tire with all the other idiots buying new tires for my busband because I was worried about him driving in the snow. But, the (very nice) salespeople were so busy they were helping people in the store and taking calls at the same time. So I left with the WRONG, and yes, MORE EXPENSIVE tires because they took down the order wrong over the phone. I'd have been better off to be at home sipping hot chocolate and thinking about hot Greek guys.
3. Why is it that every day lasts forever when you have a submission out to someone new. If I'm submitting to a previous editor time flows normally. New publisher/editor/agent, one day feels like a month. Nothing strikes more horror in my heart that a form letter saying it will take 60 days or whatever for them to respond to a query.
4. How many books do you need to read from a given publisher/line before you submit to them? If it's category, the answer is obvious - 10 or more. But what about small presses that publish quirkier stuff? Will reading their books help at all? Major Hmmmm question. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Would you believe I've never sat all the way through a single reality show? Where do they get the idea that is reality? Thanks, I'll take my fiction real.
I'm with Delle. The only time I watched Survivor or Idol was when we guests who were addicts and insisted on it. Yech.
If I want to see people treating each other badly, I can just go sit in on family court.
I will, however, confess to enjoying Dancing with the Stars on occasion. It's more about hope and accomplishing something outside your comfort zone. And the judges, while sometimes harsh, are not out to make people cry for entertainment. But I usually only watch first and last shows of a season.

I haven't watched TV in so long I'm not sure how to even turn on the set, so I've missed all the reality show frenzy. Guess that's a good thing, huh?
Sorry to panic you further, but I'm looking forward to some snow--as long as I don't need to drive in it. :)
Sorry, I don't have any hard and fast suggestions for submitting to a small press.

Small press reading is a must, not to learn what they like but more to learn what they don't like. It may be that they publish a lot of quirky things, but you can often still get a pattern. Is it more toward relationships? A particular era? Is something missing (i.e., no thrillers or no romance)?
As for reality shows, I used to watch idol but then I learned that some people were chosen specifically because they were awful for the pathos or the abrasive personality. So, I stopped watching. I do watch dance shows when I have a chance just because I think dancers are amazing.
